The euphoria of victory will continue to drown soccer fans all over the world especially
In the past, the aftermath of such glorious event has been hooliganism and killings among over-zealous fans. However, one fact remains that, there can never be a win, win situation at all times, much the same we can never have lose, lose situation anywhere, except for those who don’t know their onions or are never desirous of championship status. Remember Man’ united was a champion and still is. That she lost to Barca, has never made her a lesser team, it just points to one thing, and that's the irony of fate, which puts you in edge when you miscalculate in your operations. The result could’ve been the other way round, yet the irony of fate has made it what it was yesterday.
On the minds of most resolute Man U fans, May 27, 2009 remains a date of monumental loss. But, it’s believed that, that event has come and gone and understanding minds will surely take it in good faith. While, we share in the euphoria of FC Barcelona’s victory, we also urge our darling team Manchester United to take heart and embrace yesterday’s blow with the spirit of sportsmanship.
I have watched with keen interest in the development of soccer since my childhood in the early seventies to date 2009. I started picking interest in professional soccer through TV program Big League Soccer and since then have become an adent lover of the round leather game. But i'm at the point of taking a far reaching decision on my love game soon. My final decision will certainly be affected by d behavior of African Fans, especially Nigerian Fans and most especially Man U Fans. To give an insight into my point, i will like you(all readersof this comment) to reflect back to CNN report on the 2009 aftermath of UCL final between Man U and Barcelona, with focus on what happenned in Port Harcourt City of Nigeria. A disgruntled MAN U fan used his bus to ram into celebrating Barcelona fans and killed several young dynamic youths, what kind of madness call fanship was that? An Asenal Fan hanging himself in Nairobi Kenya after their Semi Final loss to MAN U, what craze was that? Man U stabbing his brother to death in Bauchi Nigeria after losing a league game, what psycho was that? Warri Wolves Goal keeper beaten and injured by Rangers FC of enugu Nigeria at Nnewi and later slumped to death, what Insaneness was that? Bayelsa United Skipper Killed by Unsuspected crazy fans(tagged armed robers) few hours after winning the Nigerian Glo League 2009, Animals? Pls FIFA most take drasticaction to cub violence in soccer or else the game will soon be a threat to peaceful coexistence of brotherhood across the globe.

It's all true that football hooliganism has taken an absurd dimension in Africa, but at the same time, caution needs to be applied in order to avoid generalization. This is because a few cases of football fans violence resulting to deaths were equally recorded in Europe recently.
ReplyDeleteBut that is not to say that the rapidity this ugly incidence should not be put in check. I think the players as role models and heart-throbes of most of these crazy fans are in a better position to call their followers to order. However, I want to say a big thank you, to Robert for his in-depth comment.
