Many would like to know whether the reported cases of the swine flu in America, Britain, Canada and now in Germany where a toddler’s case is among and could well be described as the most pathetic, is a natural spread or aided by transportation from Mexico where it was first noticed late last week. It’s interesting to know that World Health Organization (WHO) experts are putting heads together to arrest the situation. But more worrisome is the fact that kids are the most vulnerable with the ongoing report of a child’s death in Texas right now. And this of course sends a warning that astute control measures must be put in place to arrest the situation in order to avoid a repeat of the avian flu case of old, which still lingers in some parts of the globe.
Meanwhile, if the other cases outside the initial trouble spot (Mexico) are not natural, then the prime option is for some stringent control measures to be applied. We must learn to show genuine concern for one and another in our world today. People in authority should take calamities like this seriously, because controls are rarely easy the moment an epidemic breaks out. If outright restriction of movements cannot be possible, we must ensure that appropriate procedures are put in place to ensure that infected persons are not allowed into public places.
As alien as this particular flu may sound to most of us, the repercussion of epidemic should in truth serve as a basis for an honest effort to tackle it without any manner of false pretends. And no nation should claim immunity as we never can tell who the next victim will be. In calling to mind the pathetic demise of the victim(s), let us all pray for the repose of the departed soul(s).
With the deepest hearth of sympathy, we implore all health experts to lend a supporting hand in the fight against this April visitor. The life you safe might be yours; thus, your invaluable support will go a long way to safe our already depressed globe.
