Swine flu saga

Many would like to know whether the reported cases of the swine flu in America, Britain, Canada and now in Germany where a toddler’s case is among and could well be described as the most pathetic, is a natural spread or aided by transportation from Mexico where it was first noticed late last week. It’s interesting to know that World Health Organization (WHO) experts are putting heads together to arrest the situation. But more worrisome is the fact that kids are the most vulnerable with the ongoing report of a child’s death in Texas right now. And this of course sends a warning that astute control measures must be put in place to arrest the situation in order to avoid a repeat of the avian flu case of old, which still lingers in some parts of the globe.

Meanwhile, if the other cases outside the initial trouble spot (Mexico) are not natural, then the prime option is for some stringent control measures to be applied. We must learn to show genuine concern for one and another in our world today. People in authority should take calamities like this seriously, because controls are rarely easy the moment an epidemic breaks out. If outright restriction of movements cannot be possible, we must ensure that appropriate procedures are put in place to ensure that infected persons are not allowed into public places.

As alien as this particular flu may sound to most of us, the repercussion of epidemic should in truth serve as a basis for an honest effort to tackle it without any manner of false pretends. And no nation should claim immunity as we never can tell who the next victim will be. In calling to mind the pathetic demise of the victim(s), let us all pray for the repose of the departed soul(s).

With the deepest hearth of sympathy, we implore all health experts to lend a supporting hand in the fight against this April visitor. The life you safe might be yours; thus, your invaluable support will go a long way to safe our already depressed globe.

Quotes on Insensitivity

“When desperation gets to a point
where you’re insensitive to other peoples’ feelings,
it becomes wickedness.”

Clement Icha – March 2008

The Parallel Lines

“Never have I heard of someone who shared
same date of birth and death. Perhaps this
is a function of the parallel nature of
the two roads.”

Clement Icha – Oct. 23, 2007

Quotes

“Most men do not see beyond tomorrow,
such are the ones that treat fellow human
with scorn and are so drawn in little as
though it were surplus.”

Clement Icha – June, 2008

Qutes

“How easy it is to be unkind,
wicked and hostile, seek pleasure and cares,
succor and solace. Yet with bitterness
and frequency comes complaints of an
unfair and unfriendly treatment
from others.”

Clement Icha – Oct. 23, 2007.

Height Issues

”The average height person savors both the pleasant
and unpleasant breath in a congregation.”

The Danger of Arguments

only reflect and move on; otherwise
you’ll not be able to help each other
or move forward when a Tornado,
a Tsunami or a Katrina comes. And
it will sweep you all off over arguments.”

Winning Ways - One

Many ways leads to success, but genuine success is a product of smart thinking. Smart thinking is a function of self awareness governed by personal idiosyncrasy and a goal getting spirit.

Wake up, for you’re a winner; only ask yourself, what does a winner looks like? What does s/he do? Can I do it, if no why? Is there a winner around you, you can rob minds with? Look, all the winners ever known in history have one thing in common, resilience, which drives them on. They are ever willing to take charge, take risk and accept responsibility for the outcome of their actions. Ultimately their ambition ever, is to achieve a positive result. Success therefore, is benchmarked with result, and anything short of excellent result is a no result to a gritty goal getter.

So to achieve excellent result, you must take an uncompromising stand in the course of executing your task. You must learn to deal with whatever may pose a challenge or hindrance to your set goals; if it needs buying in at some point, you just have to. But always have it at the back of your mind that your have an uncompromising target – excellent result.

Your business philosophy in any negotiation should be that of being in-charge. And that is achievable when you’re able to permeate the heart of your opponent by talking him/her into conviction. So always ask for God’s grace and direction. Once you’re in-charge, you’ll be able to dictate the pace and direction of your negotiation or task.

Good luck, as you ply the winning way!

Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse

Would it be wrong to suggest that the captured Somali pirate -Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse be used after interrogation or trial? Thus be treated like a king and be used to fetch other terrorists from their hideouts. Sending him to jail will do him a lot good by way of reform; but getting him to assist in fetching the rest will quicken all efforts at wiping pirates off Somali Ocean.

Campaign for Moral Values

One of the issues raised at the G-20 Summit in London recently, was that of upholding moral values. Talking about moving forward from global economic slump that’s a precise step in the right direction. However, our individual differences and country peculiarities stand to clog the wheel of such movement, thus, constituting a bane to that sound solution.

Even as it stands now, some of our leaders in the corporate and political worlds still place personal interests above collective/national/global interest. If we must uphold moral values, then it’s high time, we shifted the paradigm. This of course calls for transparency and accountability, equity and fairness, due diligence and commitment to service in all spheres.

Please join me in the campaign for Moral Values in our World!!!!!

The Missing Link on the Globe

Where do we find the missing link on the globe? Is there a missing link really? The answers are not too far from you, all you’ve to do is search your minds. You may ask yourself these questions: why are the people of the world differently located with peculiarities and individualities? And why do we need each other; what brought about migration in first place?

Japan is currently dolling of thousands of Dollars to immigrant workers who are willing to leave Japan. America is equally challenged by the influx of illegal immigrants; the same goes for Europe and the rest of the world. Yet, the question is, where is the missing link? Who is not doing what, and what make things go wrong?

Is it greed or selfishness? Or is it corruption? And if it is corruption, then could we say all of these anomalies are a function of poverty? And again, why is poverty so perverse in our world, what really is the cause of poverty?

Two issues are raised here: Migration (legal/illegal) and Poverty (greed/selfishness/corruption induced). The two opens a long and wide debate.

Readers, this open to comments and suggestions

Memoirs of Economic Recession

Oh Wellton, my second home
Home away from home,
Home time consuming, home energy sapping,
Home challenging, fulfilling
Home promising, rewarding

When time develops pot-belly
Our hopes cling in what you behold,
what brings us some comfort, consolation

At sprout of time
We are empowered to follow,
follow through to next,
with fruits you bear
Labor and efforts rewarded

Rewards brings forth,
Clothing, comfort
Education, enjoyment
Food, freedom,
Funds to play with
Shelter and security

Here you come
Rootless recession replacing
Rewards with retrenchments,
Benevolence with boredom,
Comfort with confusion,
Enjoyment with endurance,
Economic boom with doom,
Food with famine,
Funds with frustration,
Freedom with fear,
Hope with hopelessness

Oh see how
You’ve meltdown,
Our homes, our jobs,
Our economy, our education,
Our families, our finances,
Our friendships, our relationships
Oh I remember Welton
I remember my job
I remember my good Old colleagues,
My relationship with them
All meltdown!

What a quivering cold
of anxiety, bewail, castigation,
Destitution, depression, evasion, fright,
Frustration, grunt, hallucination,
Idiosyncrasy, joblessness this brings

How big a blow
Economic recession has dealt
On our globe

The Path to tread...melted Global economy

Even though all hopes seem to be lost at a time the whole world is talking about economic recession, for those who know their source there’s nothing to fear or worry about. And for those in deep despair, our sources still remain unchanged, only if we recognize it and tilt aright.

It’s true that depression leads to destitution, not only of material things, but also of ideas. For this reason, we have to open up ourselves to all that life has to offer, and that begins from knowing whom we are and those we have. We need not lose sight of the good things around us that can bring succor in our present circumstance.

This period obviously calls for sober reflection, thorough pondering and self evaluation. Yes, you’ve what it takes to make a difference, because we’re differently molded and gifted as well. You seem not to find your bearing because of the thorough evaluation and research you’ve failed to do. And if you’ve done so and still haven’t figured out something; then check yourself very well. There must be something still left undone.

May I suggest something that could help? First do a DNA of yourself, your strength - your skills, hidden talents, those things you like to do, the ones you know how to do which you’ve been giving less attention or no attention at all. And then your weaknesses – is it lack of self confidence, conservativeness, fear, unseriousness, indecision, unwillingness to take risk, poor communication, poor relationship management.

Now could you please do a run-down of all the people you’ve known, be it family members, associates, colleagues, friends old and new. Think of what you can do, and who among the people you know can give you a push. Who readily comes to your mind? Is s/he an old friend or a new one? It’s a relation or a colleague? Are you having doubts about meeting this person? Or your old shell still beclouds the fact that a trial may convince you? Take a bold step! Discuss your thoughts with the person, and tell him/her where s/he can come in.

But be mindful of moods, approaching a person at those moody moments can be frustrating. So you must recognize individual differences, for that can help you in winning supports. If you perceive some mix-feelings in the person before the discussion, please reschedule the meeting. However, if this occurs in the middle of the talk, you may still rebook the meeting in order to pass a complete and resounding message.

Remember that our minds travel a lot, so follow up and reminders are necessary. Meanwhile, refusal of one person to support your idea/plans shouldn’t serve as a basis for conclusions like – oh all hope is lost and there’s need to try another person. Or everyone one will treat me like the first, and so there’s no need to move on. No, never accept defeats, and endeavor to erase impossibility from your life-dictionary. Rather than, dwell in the thoughts of failures and defeats, let them serve as turning point in your life. You must always learn from every mistake you make. The win, win situation ideology and the “I can do spirit” should be your golden rule or guide at all times.

Remember to appreciate to those who helped you to move on; life is never about all what you know, but about the people you know. When you know how to manage people and your relationships, you sure will succeed. Don’t forget, you must learn to do things differently.

Who says the reality of our times has given away benevolence? Who says there’re no good Samaritans anymore? Who says this recession has eaten up all our finances and our ideas? Come, think! Think yourself out of the current situation and shift the paradigm to where change and help are.

Do a recall of those you’ve offended or gratified in the past, chances are that you’ll find favor from them if you’re at peace with people in all places. Let your comfort come from your sweat, efforts, and all that you’ve invested in other people.

Pause a while and figure out how you can change your situation. Everything is possible, is just a question of pressing the right button, taking the right step and meeting the right people. Give it a try, and let’s talk it over again.

Arrest and Detention of Journalists

Detention of American-Iranian Journalist: Roxana Saberi

If anything should give anyone concern, it should be stories like that of journalists detention. The detention of Roxana is one in a million cases, and the intriguing stories surrounding her trial behind closed doors contradicts the axiom that equity is fair and uncontaminated. One might not be wrong to propose a re-examination of some law experts’ credentials and their competencies. This is far from a case of one bad apple spoiling the whole basket; rather we are seeing some bigots who are gradually enthroning non-professionalism and questionable characters as ethic/norm in different forms.

And because when such things happens, practitioners are either quiet or simply putting up non-challant attitude, or worst still not being vocal enough in condemning unethical practices. At some points experts who are in a better position to correcting their comrades maintain a distance, thus making unprofessional conducts seem like a good new development.

Thank God, it was Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad himself that is saying Roxana should be allowed to offer a full defense.

Everyone enjoys the good works of journalists all over the world, from the rural dwellers to the urban and global villagers. And when the news is hitting hard on us, the purveyor turns an enemy. Interestingly, when it antagonizes, condemn or oppose our opponents it sounds good to read/hear/see. Yet when it promotes our political efforts, victory, breakthrough and good speeches, we call them the best. Oh! What a confused people we must live and work with?

Irrational as it may sound, I think the world press and its supporters should go on a black-out just for once to proof a point to all enemies of the press. Enough of these press gags and victimization, oppression and killings of journalists in different parts of the world! Right now, it's happening in North Korea. We live in a very complex world, so politicized and bewitched by evil men who think what is good for them is an abomination for others share in.

When shall we dispute those set of people? Can the world keep going on like this, with all manner of secrecy even on matters that affects not just people of a particular country or region but the whole world? Who will expose all these secrecies in pockets of places and the selfish interest of some privileged people that turns round to affect everyone?

One quick fix that can safe our world from these opportunists in different parts of the globe is the conscientization/re-orientation and the education of the mass audience on world politics on a global scale by the mass media (World Press). We all have big foes to contend with in these political wars, and collaboration is the winning way.

Readers have your say….

Somali Pirates

The rapidity of Somali pirates operations pose a question as to whether these pirates are invincible or too hard a nut to crack? And for how long will global leaders fold it arms, or pay deaf ears to the plight of these sailors and the supposed beneficiaries of their cargo. Imagine you were in Captain Richard Philips shoe when the sad incident occurred and there was no rescue; we understand the Maersk Alabama ship was carrying humanitarian aids (food) to Somali.

Many other victims conveying shipments of all sorts have been suffering various kinds of hostilities and victimizations, yet it keeps happening. Should we let it go on, and make it seem like the victim-nations concern only? Or should we encourage these sea terrorists knowing what precedent this will set? Do we encourage this crazy extortion knowing its impact on international trade?

We all owe a duty to curb this ugly development before it gets out of hand. The American navy has mentioned what job it is to put up this fight alone, or leave it to a few other countries like Britain, Canada, France and India, especially when one considers the massive size of the Somalia Ocean. It’s a global challenge that demands a global attention.

So far, we must commend those countries that have taken up the challenge to quell the situation in their own little ways. What an onerous job that should been complimented by local authorities? Unfortunately, Somali we understand is a headless society, engrossed in chaotic power tussle and terrorism of a kind. Perhaps it suggests the use of arms by sailors for self-defense against these extortionist-terrorists.

Readers, correct me if I’m wrong. Your comments are equally welcomed!

Madonna 2nd adoption appeal and Malawian archaic law – Reside in Malawi for a maximum of 18 months.

The things that make the news sometimes should equally trigger anxiety over its news worthiness, and if at all it would make such attention were it to involve all commons. I wonder if a family friends from a neighboring country was involved in the adoption, the press would’ve given them the same kind of attention that drag the Malawian authorities into invoking some kind of archaic law to prevent the said adoption? Perhaps one should blame the press for over blowing issues, and creating unnecessary attention. For the fact that, our dear icon, Madonna has done this before, without any unfavorable stories ensuing her action; the second action should’ve been left unannounced. That way, one political person somewhere wouldn’t come bragging about how the adopter should stay for about 18 months before moving out with the adoptee.

Come to think of it, how many African leaders or authorities genuinely care about the destitute? Or visit the slums or pockets of places where the have not, say not stay? Do they even care? Why is someone in authority somewhere in Malawi trying to make news with some archaic law s/he probably studied those days when most of them that have denied many underprivileged Africans basic necessities of life, were barely push with largesse to go to school. I put it to any of those quoting those laws to challenge Madonna by pick just 3 of these helpless kids? One! Two!! Three!!! In fact, you’ll be amazed at the speed with which those jealous authorities will vacate the scene where they are joining issues with a humanist and a Good Samaritan like Madonna.

Far from saying African customs/traditions/laws should not be respected, no. I honestly would be the last advocate of insubordination. However, what is very common in the continent -Africa is the circumvention of laws. Really truly, when the law does not favor those in authority, in quick succession they bend it to suit their selfish ends. I’ll beat my chest to say if the second adoptee was related to any of those presiding over the case, with quick dispatch they would clear Madonna to travel with the little child. So for this reverse case, it will take God’s grace for it to happen quickly. Well, those are our leaders for you.

But if we must make a better world, which would not segregate against anything, be it race, custom, religion, and class, then we must all lend our voices to controversies like the one in Madonna’s second adoption. And for my dear icon, please be a true mother to your adopted children. For giving love and parental care to someone whose world would have been misery of numbness, lack, pain, trauma and agony; only God knows what await you at the other side of benevolence.

It’s up to you my dear Bloggers; your say/comments on the issue are welcome!

General Interest and Social Issues

The inevitable nature of our global relationships are enough lessons for everyone, and so let no nation prove tough-skin to the global recession, unless she has an uncanny ability to form an island of its own or redirect the course which our planet earth goes 24 hours daily to say 6 or 10 hours a day. Otherwise, let our world leaders’ dialogue as frequent as possible in order to chart a good course for an impudent economic recession.

All that is needed is realistic roadmap to recovery from an economic meltdown of a global scale, and not the politicking or show of innocence, immunity, and wiseness as displayed by some leaders at the London Summit in March 2009. In a world, where we have all witnessed epidemics like HIV/AIDS, Bird flu spread across the globe, these should serve as enough signals to global players to recognize the simple fact that the world has in fact, turned a global village. And so what befalls nation A will no doubt go round the nations of the earth.

What has happened should teach all and sundry a moral lesson. It is high time we became fair to all nations, be honest, be just, and above all be every nations (our brothers and sisters) keeper. Today, the impact of this unprecedented economic meltdown is seen in revolts, violent crimes, suicides, and pockets of killings. We had better watch carefully, else it degenerates into a revolution.

Indeed the days of class segregation, discrimination and commonizing toddler nations are over; after all, our elites and our developed and powerful nations have failed us once. And so the wise thing to do is to embrace the community assembly approach, where everyone has a say. In truth, a thorough evaluation and collaboration of global views in a global scale can produce tons of magic wands that could be used to avert the brink we’re heading to.

The separatist approach and political tactics cannot save us; neither could our economists alone save us; but rather divine wisdom and intervention borne of an unchangeable fact that, the voice of the people is the voice of God. And so, let all the people of the world have a say in a global challenge(s) that stares on everyone’s face.

In fact, we can only get out of the global economic crunch/mess, when we realize the need to level up those artificial imbalances created by proponents of class struggle and discrimination, be it religious, political, economic and continental. The world economy will witness a robust revival when those greedy, selfish, wicked and callus players repent from their perfidious ways. And when our leaders in the political and corporate world come to terms with the fact that what is good for them is good for others.
