The Danger of Negligence...

The Danger of Negligence...

Like the lonely voice in the wilderness, I will keep crying until something is done about the waste of innocent souls with impunity, all in the name of politics and power tussle. In fact, what has been going on around the globe has challenged me into doing three things expeditiously. First, I have to start reading my Bible like never before for an in-depth knowledge of God's plans for me; second, study international relations and finally international law. Perhaps, the three may help me to understand better the challenges of our international leaders and organizations, which ordinarily, should arrest the mendacious political machination across the globe, as well as the maddening quest to spilt innocent blood by some ruthless rulers.

If you ask me, I will suggest that all international laws and policies should tilt towards strict disciplinary measures for all manner of impunity regardless of status, sovereignty, religious or continental inclination. In fact, it baffles me that even renown scholars dodge the answers often time they are asked questions bordering on global challenges. Perhaps it is for fear of the unknown or for dearth of ideas. It is pretty unfortunately, that even the ominous signs of our negligence are not noticed either. But I know that God is unhappy over man's inhumanity to man. He is angry over our pretence and gross neglect, often the case is that of: it's their business or how does that concern me?

Across the global we are witnessing dramatic and unprecedented changes, coming from our actions and inactions. Yet it never seems to matter to our policy formulators and law makers that, that thing call injustice is bad. To worsen matters, moral values are eluding different cultures with reckless abandon, and instead it should matter to anyone, the world is engrossed in the celebration of fame, the famous; wealth, the wealthy; royalty and the royal; power and the powerful; politics and the political juggernauts and those who will offer the juiciest opportunity in international relations or even foreign policies that offers the most expedient carrots.

Unfortunately, nobody seems to be looking at the downtrodden in the unfair and unequal sharing of the peoples' commonwealth. Yet, you hear people ask questions like: how can we arrest youth restiveness, violent crime and other vices?

Sometimes I wonder how naive our fore-fathers were, to have allowed hegemony to thrive to a point where descendants of the beneficiaries of the bizarre old order still see things in the same light in our contemporary world of great changes and wonders. Little wonder the likes of Bashar al-Assad, would want to hold on to Syria until all Syrians drop death, Fidel Castrol would want to die with Cuba and even imprison self-actualization of Cubans for such a long time.

Here in Africa, the likes of Robert Mugabe, Paul Biya, Mubarak and others who have now transited to the great beyond could think that they are or were born leaders and the best thing to have happened to their various countries. Here again, the likes of Salva Kiir Mayardit and his former deputy, Riek Machar in a toddler nation like South Sudan, turning South Sudanese into the proverbial grass that suffers when to Elephants fight, all in their despotic and maximum ruler mentors’ fashion.

Again, I ask myself, what is permissible under international law in handling high-handedness either in South Sudan, Russia, North Korea or anywhere in the world? What do we tell God in the face of genocide, when the beneficiary and their wards are well protected? What on earth makes one man’s life better and important over millions of innocent global citizens? Is it education or inheritance or special rights, when indeed the UN Charter has spelt it all out? Is it not better for the UN Security Council to be represented by all countries, and representation based on a universally agreed procedure, such that where crisis loom, even the directly affected representative can initiate a step-in order without having to consider any master’s interest back home?

Indeed we must all rise to condemn whatever is bad, be injustice, inequality, greed, corruption, discrimination, violence, unfairness, dishonesty, cheating and all the things nature abhors, to enthrone peace in our world. Otherwise, the calamity that waits our collective negligence will be more than anyone can escape.

Latest trade in Syria....

Global politics has taken a disheartening dimension. I think what is badly needed is proper utilization of the social media platform for mediation, sensitization, social alliance and education, policy analysis, mobilization and proper communication...  Because, a lot of things have gone amiss, and all I see people do is either talking, talking or criticizing without offering pragmatic solutions to avoidable problems and issues of general interest.

Indeed this attitude of watching the damage and carnage done before acting, or even allowing innocent souls to be wasted for a few persons vested interests or over their elitist squabbles, is a sin of neglect committed by all ( both actors and spectators, as well as the victims who let themselves vulnerable either for ignorance of helplessness), and as such, we all need to voice out what is good and condemn what is evil. For they say, prevention is cheaper and better. Let us not forget, we all owe a duty to be each others keeper regardless of race, inclination, status and distance...

In retrospect, Anang's visit in the early hours of the damage was supposed to have happened as early as a week into the killings, unfortunately, that occurred only on the eleventh hour, which goes to show the level of delay and neglect issues of global concerns suffers. Perhaps, this is coming from other issues contending for interest at their table. But at the same time, I feel a single leader's soul should not be valued over and above a million souls.

It is unfortunately, that at the height of human waste, trade, vested interest and funny exchanges goes on covertly and overtly, yet the world watch with fears and worries without any meaningful remedy to the unquantifiable damages.... We had better learn now to act fast or even save lives that are harmless, quite innocent and ignorant to the deals that go on in the corridors of power.

Whatever the interest is, I feel the sanctity of life is far above the politics of trading and investment interests, or who will patronize the business that spurs all vituperation....

Somebody should speak out for the voiceless before we provoke God beyond tolerance.

Poisonous Letters: Unanswered Questions...

I was perturbed by the worrisome report of another poisonous letter sent to the Mayer of New York - Bloomberg. That another letter containing Ricin, was successful mailed to the Mayor was a clear indication of laxity, which leaves some unanswered moral questions like: who is after President Obama, the US Legislator and the NY Mayor? For what motive and at what prize? Do the trio have lovers and loyalists in the American Postal Agency? If 'yes' answers the latter, then I might as well ask, why was there no red-alert at the mailing points right from the first instance?
If it is for political animosity that laxity and compromise triumphed, then we should be wary of who the next receiver might be. Otherwise, the level of resilience shown by the sender(s) of the Ricin letters' calls for extra vigilance and a doubly red alert on any mail coming or going out of the post offices, especially, in a country like America where mails are never allowed to go on dispatch without the sender's contact details.
Should that be still obtainable, then some gatekeepers axe needs to be massaged for vigilance. Meanwhile, the level of inequality in various societies have reached crescendo, thus calling for soothing and comfort, embracing and care giving to the long abandoned and neglected in our various societies, and as extending the olive branch to the aggrieved and even the opposition.
We must not allow the reckless enthronement of evil, which seem to enthuse a few extremists to escalate to modern societies where all people looked forward to as models for civility and decorum. Otherwise, the level of wickedness that will follow this ugly trend will never leave anyone untouched or pleased.
Let's all be fair and caring to all people. Above all, we must learn to communicate or even accommodate all stakeholders in our communications, especially, as it concerns our commonwealth or well being.

My humble demands from UN Scribe - Ban Ki-mon

Everyday I wake to hear sad news of violent killings, I don't only get worried, I get challenged to confronting the powers that be, to implore them to take an action or possibly suggest some pragmatic solutions to the killing of innocent people in volatile places.

The concern burning in my heart at the moment, is to see an end put to the muscle flexing of the likes of Bashar al Assad of Syria, Kim Jong Un of North Korea and others in some places in Africa where people in positions of authority have gone to sleep or left a controllable crisis to escalate into a full scale security issues whose victims are often innocent people.

Indeed if I have an opportunity with Ban Ki-moon, the UN Scribe, I will demand of him the following:

1.) Reorganization of the UN Security Council
2.) A quick review of some international laws and policies as they concern human rights violation and protection
3.) A general advocacy and sensitization of the global citizens common concerns among many other demands.

You may ask why. Simple, over 2000 lives have gone in Syria. It could have been abated or even avoided but not for diplomacy and international politicking. Now, coming to Africa, we all know that implied poverty has given rise to all manner of human waste in form of violence. Unfortunately, when these crises begin, the people that are supposed to address it are the ones who busy themselves with international travels or what I may call frivolity at the risk of human lives and security, without fervid intervention. Yet, the intervention that come often, is that type that can be called medicine after death or when it is out of hand.

It will do the world no good, if we keep watching evil triumph in pockets of places across globe, while pretending that all is well, just because it is not close. Yet, whatever happens, the global citizens are made to pay for it directly or indirectly.

Some times I even wonder whether, a collaborative effort from international banks, diplomats, hotels and airlines who directly or indirectly, are in the know of the machinations of these actors of high scale carnage...will not help in curbing this human waste. Unless, we all get involved, the problems will prevail. Interestingly, the UN Scribe has a key role to play, that is why I want him to action a quick change.

Terrorism and Politics...

I believe it will be more profitable for US Law-makers to concentrate on fixing the many issues that have clogged her economy instead of decimating energy on politics of hegemony, antagonism, frustration and revenge. Whilst we focus on total eradication of terrorism, we must not lose sight of the yearnings of the American people and all others who look unto America as a vanguard; otherwise you give the terrorists cause to rejoice that their objective of distraction and inflicting pain on innocent people has prevailed.

Sometimes, we should play this politics with a sense of piety, posterity and the fear of God, who is the ultimate decider of the next event.

The Strauss-Kahn tale

If truly, Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s extramarital affairs have long been considered an open secret, then justice should not be far fetched; otherwise it will amount to a delay. It’s amusing that the dust of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi of Italy sexual assault is yet to settle before this obloquy from a continental brother.

However, the wisest choice for everyone at this point is to allow justice to prevail. As President Sarkozy rightly put it…the presumption of innocence must be maintained and the courts must be allowed to do their work. Unfortunately, if it turns out to be a true case of rape, then Mr. Strauss-Kahn should be ready for worst castigation from his political opponents and countrymen.

It is better we presume it all politics and not rape. Otherwise, we should begin to cover our faces because if it turns out a case of seduction, then parents who close their eyes to the crazy nude appearance of their daughters in the name of freedom are guilty of the same offense – of neglect. Far from generalization, quite a handful of public figures have been guilty of the same predatory behavior towards women and aggressive sexual pursuit of them, from street girls to female journalists as well as their aids in work places, which this ingenuous man is being accused of.

On one hand, this ugly development calls for caution and self-control on the part of roue, especially, those who hold public trust. On another hand, married women are by this challenged to do more of their marital responsibilities rather leaving their husbands vulnerable to shameless and primitive ladies who think they are in vogue with seductive Adamic clothing.
